Parent Information
The Jupiter Langley Sea Cadets unit provides a structured environment where youth develop leadership and maritime skills. We rely on parental support and open communication to ensure every cadet has the resources and guidance they need to reach their full potential.
Cadets have the opportunity to attend optional 1–2 week training programs during winter, spring, and summer breaks. These camps give them the chance to learn new skills, build confidence, and spend time with cadets from other units.
All cadets begin with Recruit Training, an introductory program designed to teach teamwork, responsibility, and the basics of the Sea Cadet program. After completing this training, cadets may choose to attend a variety of advanced trainings based on their interests.
Community service is also an important part of the program. Cadets regularly help with activities such as Marine Toys for Tots, assisting at community events, and presenting the Color Guard at ceremonies and special occasions.
While some cadets later choose military careers, apply for military-supported college scholarships, or attend U.S. Service Academies, there is no military obligation to join. The program is supported entirely by volunteers, many of whom are parents of current or former cadets.
